Background
VJ Group, a Massachusetts-based global provider of high-tech X-ray solutions, saw the opportunity to enter the growing cannabis industry. It founded a new division, VJ Scientific Inc., to address this market by providing cannabis cultivators with cutting-edge X-ray technology for eliminating mold, mildew, and bacteria from cannabis flower.
In 2021, the company developed its first system, dubbed the CX-1000™, with significant IP and distinct advantages over competitive technology in the space. VJS was eager to enter this extremely competitive niche market with the launch of its new product at MJBizCon, the largest cannabis tradeshow in the world, in November of 2022.
Challenge
Competitors with similar offerings entered the market early on and had established strong relationships and substantial market share. To make the biggest impact possible, MJBizCon was the ideal platform to launch its brand and product. However, as a new market entrant at the largest tradeshow in cannabis, it would be difficult for VJ Scientific to gain visibility, build brand awareness, and make valuable industry connections with limited time at hand.
